We are combining the magic of our long standing awaken retreats in addition to the river rafting adventure of a lifetime! you’ll be white water rafting with professional guides down the salmon river in idaho, while making memorable stops along the way, camping on white sandy river banks under millions of stars, and being led through daily meditation, movement & mindfulness workshops by jenna hansen. a river trip emphasizes the important things in life and lets you eliminate the noise and trivial matters of daily life by removing distractions and letting you reconnect with yourself and nature.
The retreat is august 21-25; however you will be required to arrive on august 20th for orientation. travel and lodging recommendations will be provided and have additional costS. this retreat doesn’t require previous rafting experience but previous injuries and physical limitations should be considered.
RAFTING OVERVIEW
We are rafting with professional guides from Action Whitewater Adventures who will supply everything you will need (including camping gear, dry bags, food, etc) outside of any personal items. AWA is one of the oldest and most experienced Main Salmon River outfitters in Idaho. Over the past 65 years, they have rafted virtually every whitewater river in the West. They have chosen to raft on the Main Salmon River exclusively because it is the best wilderness whitewater river in the United States for a number of reasons. They will provide several options for rafting so you can experience the river on a paddle boat, inflatable kayak, or large rowing style boat. You can spend the day rowing, or let the guide do the work for you as you relax and enjoy the scenery. The experienced guides will also prepare delicious and filling meals along the way - all you need to do is get to salmon and we’ll take care of the rest!
SCHEDULE
The class III and IV rapids on the Main Salmon river, supply the thrills and excitement to get your adrenaline going with heart pounding white water, wild waves and deep holes. Relax in the calm water between the rapids. Catch your breath, enjoy the scenery from steep granite cliffs to grassy meadows. at the campsites, Join in family friendly activities, hot springs, water fights and volleyball on the beach. Below is a breakdown of what to expect for each day on the river.
You’ll need to arrive in Salmon anytime before 7pm on August 20th for required orientation. Recommended accommodations are at the Stagecoach Inn, which is where orientation and departure will be held. Action Whitewater Adventures can help coordinate your travel and room accomodations directly via a Boise Travel Package.
DAY 2 THROUGH 4: Each exciting day on the river will follow this general itinerary.
7:00 – 8:00 a.m. Enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by your guides, followed by a guided morning meditation.
8:00 – 9:30 a.m. Pack personal gear while guides take down camp, load boats and begin the day’s adventures.
9:30 a.m. – Noon Whitewater rafting and sightseeing on the Main Salmon.
Noon – 1:00 p.m. Buffet style lunch and time to relax along the scenic banks of the Main Salmon.
1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Back on the river for more rapids, hot springs and adventures.
4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Unload rafts, set up camp, relax, play, hike, swim and explore.
6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A delicious dinner prepared by your guides and served under a beautiful Idaho sky.
8:00 - ?? Restorative Yoga Flow followed by Campfire, recount the day’s adventures, enjoy good company and the peaceful wilderness evening.
Note: The times listed above are included to give you an idea of a typical day on the river. Times will vary due to water levels, weather, and camp locations. Rafts, paddle boats, and inflatable kayaks will be used on each trip. There will be time for everyone to experience each type of boat.
DAY 5: On our last day on the Main Salmon we run the rapids until we reach the Carey Creek take-out. After a hearty farewell lunch, trip participants will travel by bus to McCall, Idaho. Check into rooms at the Third Street Inn, McCall, Idaho (If your car has been shuttled, it will be at the hotel with your keys at the front desk.)

RETREAT PRICING
The retreat cost includes the entire 5 day rafting adventure with professional rafting guides, provided items for camping accommodations, all meals and beverages, daily classes and movement with Jenna, and a swag bag from our sponsors. We are also providing a long sleeve UV swag shirt and travel yoga mat which will both be very helpful. Awaken Retreats will not be including travel to the location of this retreat, as there are multiple options to choose from that vary travel time and cost.
Costs not included are travel before or after the retreat, gratuity for guides, recommended travel insurance, or souvenirs you may have the opportunity to purchase along the route.

PAYMENT PLAN - $500 Non-refundable Deposit with 6 monthly payments of $257.83

TRAVEL OPTIONS
This retreat begins on August 21st, however, you will need to make travel arrangements to arrive by the 20th for Orientation. You are welcome to make your own arrangements, but there are travel package options that you can purchase directly through Action Whitewater Adventures if you prefer. Travel booking info will be provided after registration is confirmed with Awaken. If you are planning to drive, we heavily encourage carpooling to reduce the per person shuttle cost, as shuttle pricing is per vehicle.
